Recently our Year 11 BTEC Performing Arts students performed in a Test Valley Arts Foundation project: ‘And Now We Tell our Tale’ They performed along side students from, Winton, Endeavour and the Long Overdue Theatre School at The Lights theatre.
The aim of the project is to research the impact on Andover of the redevelopment that took place during the late 1960s and 1970s. The story was told both from the point of view of Andover residents who felt the impact of the re development and the people who were rehoused into Andover mainly from London.
The show was written by local author Roy Chatfield, who created the script from stories gathered from local people who were affected by the changes to area during that era. The director of the piece was John Baxter, who was Head of Performing Arts at Harrow Way School for over thirty years, Mark McGann, actor and director, who is a member of the McGann acting family and now heads his own production company, Drama Direct.
The production was a Multi media production, combining a range of live theatre performance styles and episodes that were filmed during the rehearsal period. A gallery of pictures can be viewed here.
