Hard work and determination has paid off for Harrow Way students who are celebrating excellent GCSE results. There was, of course, significant disruption to the beginning of these students’ secondary school careers and we applaud our Year 11 students, who through sheer hard work, tenacity and admirable ambition, have been rewarded with results that reflect their effort and commitment throughout their courses. 75% of the cohort achieved grade 9 to 4 in English, and 68% achieved a grade 9 to 4 in Maths. These are door opening qualifications that pave the way for success and choices in the future, be that at college, an apprenticeship or elsewhere. We wish all our students well and congratulate them on their achievements.
With strong results across the year group, top scoring student Bella Hall-Cooper achieved an impressive collection of high grades with eight Grade 9s and two Grade 8s. There were a number of stand-out performances, with many students celebrating a haul of top grades, including Maisy Ruddick, Brandon Joliffe, Leticia Randall, Nicolly Ventura and James Dewey. Head Girl, Scarlett Steele, Head Boy, Ethan Thorpe and Harry Richmond are also celebrating impressive results.
At subject level, there were excellent performances from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Dance, Drama, Music, Photography, Art and Catering, all of whom had a GCSE pass rate of at least 90% or above. Performing and Visual Arts continue to be a real strength at Harrow Way, but we have also seen impressive outcomes in Modern Foreign Languages.
Headteacher, Mrs Dawn German paid tribute to the exceptional hard work, talent and dedication of staff, students and parents. “Today is all about the students and I am delighted and very proud of our young people. Nonetheless, I want to pay tribute to the whole team here at Harrow Way Community School. It is a collective effort to support students in reaching their full potential. These grades are a testament to the guidance students have received from teachers and their parents.”
“All students are more than their grades; these results are one important measure of our extraordinary students. Now they leave us as well rounded citizens equipped with the skills and attributes they will need in the future.” She added, “We are extremely proud of their commitment as well as their achievements, made all the more impressive following the challenges they’ve faced during their school careers. We continue to build on our successes and look to ensure that children of all backgrounds and abilities thrive at Harrow Way Community School.”
