The 2013 Careers Fair for Year 11 students at Harrow Way Community School has taken place. All the students were given the chance to discover what opportunities and options the future could hold for them at the fair, which takes place each year to assist the 15 and 16 year olds who are focusing their thoughts on their future education and career choices. This year the Careers Fair was supported by representatives from each of the local colleges, (Andover, Sparsholt, BCOT, Queen Mary’s, Peter Symonds and Salisbury, the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force as well as other training providers,
The Careers Fair supports the school’s careers education and guidance programme, enabling students to optimise their time with the presenting experts to ensure they are best prepared to take the right steps in achieving either their future learning and training goals. Tony Parsons, Deputy Headteacher and organiser of the Careers Fair said: “Although in less than one year from now these students will have moved on to pastures new we work hard to ensure that they have all the information they need to make some sound choices about their futures. We start the process in Year 10 with Careers classes and one-to-one interviews which, coupled with exposure to the local colleges, employers and Armed Forces at events such as this Careers Fair, certainly help the students to reflect on the options available, so that they take their next steps with confidence.â€
