The year 9/10 rugby team secured an emphatic victory over Henry Beaufort School from Winchester on Thursday night. In a game that saw the year 10 boys play their first home game of the year, the 50-5 win certainly got them off to a flying start to the season. The year 9 boys were certainly not over-awed by the encounter and relished the opportunity to ‘play up’ an age group for the first time in a long while. New RFU regulations brought in a few months ago now allow boys to compete across age groups in this way and at Harrow Way School, we certainly seem to be benefiting from the new rulings.
Superb performances from Charlie Donnelly (scrum half!), Kieran Nicholls (centre), Dylan Patel (No.8), Stanley North (fly half) and Billy Robinson (2nd row and prop) ensured a wholesome victory but it was the exploits of Connor Taylor at full-back (three tries and a try saving tackle) that makes him my Man of the Match.
Well done boys!
Next match: Thursday 25th October 2012 – Year 8/9 against Toynbee School (away).
