I am delighted to share the exciting news that we have appointed our new Student Leadership Team! Following a rigorous selection process, these students have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, creativity, and a strong commitment to making our school an even better place.

The interview process was thorough and challenging, involving both group and individual interviews. Each candidate was required to deliver a short presentation, and we were incredibly impressed by their thoughtful ideas and confident delivery. Their passion for our school was evident throughout, making the decision-making process extremely difficult, as all students showcased the qualities needed for the role.
Last week, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon alongside Mrs. Woodhead, Head of Year 10, and our current Head Prefects, Neave Close and Ed Whitehouse, interviewing the applicants for the prestigious Head and Deputy Head Prefect positions. It was a hugely rewarding experience, as the students displayed great insight, confidence, and maturity. Their dedication and enthusiasm left us incredibly proud.
This afternoon, we took the opportunity to thank our outgoing Head Prefects for their invaluable contributions before announcing the new team. In a wonderful assembly filled with applause and encouragement from their peers, we presented our new student leaders with their ties and badges, marking the beginning of their leadership journey.
Please join us in congratulating our new Student Leadership Team for 2025-26! I am thrilled to introduce our new Head Prefects, Callum Bell and Nela Treder, supported by our Deputy Head Prefects, Jess Adams, Lola Thorpe, SJ Antwe, and Luke Spratt. Alongside a strong and committed prefect team, they are eager to take on their new responsibilities and make a meaningful impact on school life.

Over the next week, our new student leaders will shadow the outgoing team, learning from their experience before officially taking up their roles after Easter. We are confident that they will be fantastic ambassadors for our school, and we look forward to seeing their contributions in the months ahead.

It will be located at the front of the school, near our main pedestrian entrance gate. If you are thinking of having a sort out, please donate any unwanted items to our textile bank. The collected items will be weighed and a financial donation will be made to the school to support school projects that will benefit our students. Thank you.

Zach Shines at SE Inter Counties Cross Country Championships!
A huge congratulations to Year 7 student, Zach, who represented Hampshire at the SE Inter Counties Schools Cross Country Championships in Essex last weekend. Zach put in an outstanding performance, finishing 25th overall out of 85 runners—a fantastic achievement given the high level of competition. Even more impressively, he was the 4th fastest Hampshire runner, improving on his 15th-place finish at the Down Grange qualifier in Basingstoke. Well done, Zach! We are incredibly proud of your hard work and success.

LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE UPDATE
This week has seen more work on our plans for VE Day and we will publish the events nearer the date (8/5/25). Finding music from the era was certainly fun!
The Easter and Spring displays have gone up and our final week showcasing women for Women's History Month was on activists and campaigners.
Efforts to be reunited with some very overdue stock have continued - thank you for your support. Our Library Management System is one of the best on the market and loans and returns are administered only by me so you can be confident that our records are correct. Whether students have borrowed of their own accord or have been brought in by a Teacher or their Tutor, they remain responsible for their loans.
Following on from Mrs German's letter about digital safety, the LRC Library has a good selection of information books on the subject and a reading list is on Reading Cloud. There are also poster displays on digital citizenship and online safety. We promote Safer Internet Day and other national events. LRC computer users are monitored and phones are not allowed.

Netball
HW 7B 4 - 8 Rookwood PoM - Hollie P. Coach’s PoM - Brooke. The game was much tighter than the scoreline might suggest. It really was end to end stuff against Rookwood on Tuesday. Amelia and Hollie P worked hard to deny two very agile shooters from having many opportunities in the circle.
Brooke moved tirelessly up and down the court transferring the ball from defence to attack, ably supported by Charlotte, Heidi and Olivia. Shooters Hollie S and Jessica created numerous opportunities to score, unfortunately luck was not on their side this time as the ball just did not want to go into the net. It was a shame to end the season with a loss but the team has worked so hard and gelled together brilliantly. We look forward to seeing what Year 8 netball will bring!

HW Year 7A 19 - 10 JH B The last game of the season for the Year 7 A team and it did not disappoint. The girls started well with 5 goals to JH’s 1. Some brilliant movement on the court from our Centre, Lily getting the ball easily to GS Darcie and GA Isabelle. JH started to fight back in the second quarter scoring 4 goals.
After a team talk at half time the girls came back fighting. Hollie made some fantastic passes getting into space and Natalie was the interception queen! JH seemed to lose their motivation in the last quarter, whereas Harrow Way did not. The game finished 19- 10 to Harrow Way. Well done girls, an absolutely fantastic season. The PE department is very proud of your efforts. Player of the match- Isabelle. Coaches player- Lily.
HW Year 8A 7 - 8 JH B PoM Nicole Coach’s PoM - Ruby N With 2 members of the A team unavailable due to illness and injury for the last game of the season the team shuffled positions a little and welcomed Ruby C into Goal Shooter. They started the game brightly and full of confidence, leading 3-1 at the end of the first quarter. However over the course of the next two quarters John Hanson upped their intensity and we were fighting to keep our lead.
There were some excellent passages of play, with the ball moving from Skyla as GK up to the goal third with ease, however as John Hanson’s defence tightened we struggled to create scoring opportunities. Fatigue set in over the final quarter and despite the girls working so hard, they let John Hanson edge ahead and just could not quite regain the lead. A tough loss to take as the final whistle blew, but the girls should be extremely proud of themselves this season, with over half of their team new this year.
HW Year 8B 5 - 10 JHC PoM Ivana and Tallia Coach’s PoM Lilly J A tough game for the 8B team in this rearranged fixture. They welcomed Emily and Katie who stepped up to represent the school at netball for the first time. Harrow Way started tentatively as they found their way with this new squad and allowed John Hanson to edge into the lead.
Despite some excellent work in the centre court by Erica, Lilly and Tallia, the girls struggled to get the ball into the circle for scoring opportunities.. But they stayed positive, focussed and encouraged each other, continuing to have plenty of possession of the ball. The final score unfortunately did not fall their way but the girls should be proud of their efforts.
Primary School Sports On Tuesday 40 Reception children visited Harrow Way for a multi skills festival. The children were really excited when they entered the Sports Hall and saw all the activities set up. They did activities such as; balloon volleyball, target throw, New Age Kurling and the floor is lava. As always, my Sports Leaders were fantastic at leading their activities. The Primary children had a brilliant time and left with smiles on their faces
