On Friday 14th October, a handful of Harrow Way’s students, who have been working closely with Andover Trees United at Harmony Woods, represented Harrow Way Community School to witness the planting of a very special tree that commemorates the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The tree, an Aspen, which came with its own aluminium commemorative pot, was part of a 70 foot-tall tree sculpture installed outside Buckingham Palace in honour of her 70th anniversary on the throne. Louisa Portal, Deputy High Sheriff of Hampshire, explained that out of the 350 trees that made up the sculpture, 8 were given to Hampshire, one of which was allocated to Harmony Woods. Louisa planted the tree with the help of students from schools in the Andover district.
