Harrow Way’s Year 8 football team made the journey to Mountbatten School on Tuesday evening to compete in the last 16 of the Eastleigh, Winchester & Andover District Schools Cup. After an unconvincing first half display, the side went in to the break 1-0 down.
A highly motivated and passionate team performance saw Elliot Smith score a fine individual equaliser with just 15 minutes to go. The team held up and delivered an impeccable second half performance which saw the game finish at 1-1. The cup fixture had to be settled so the match went in to extra time, an acrobatic display from goalkeeper Jed Trengove alongside some superb defending from Keaton Harris, Frankie Fisher and Casey Mellor kept the scores level and the game went through to a penalty shoot out.
Sadly, the side lost 5-3 on penalties in a fixture I’m sure they will never forget! Emotions ran high and the boys were a real credit to the school, they represented Harrow Way with pride, passion and the conviction of true professional sportsmen.
