Tuesday 11th November saw the arrival of nearly 100 Year 5/6 children from local schools for the annual Town Schools’ Basketball Tournament. Excited boys and girls from Portway, Knights Enham, Anton, Andover CE Primary and St Johns descended upon the Sports Hall to meet their Harrow Way leaders and await the start of the competition.
After a welcome and warm up, the matches commenced! Competitive and close, the games were exciting to watch with baskets being scored expertly by the young players. Following the pool games and play offs, the girls’ and boys’ teams were reunited in the sports hall for the finals. For the girls, Andover CE Primary and Portway A took part in a very close match, with Andover CE Primary winning on a ‘Golden Basket’ moment! St Johns and Portway C were in the boys’ final, with St Johns becoming the 2014 winner.
Harrow Way would like to thank all the teams, teachers and parents for joining us at Harrow Way. The children preformed enthusiastically and respectfully at all times and are to be congratulated on their efforts!
Harrow Way officials and leaders were fantastic and are also to be thanked and congratulated. The referees officiated expertly and confidently, scorers and timekeepers were perfectly accurate and the leaders led and supported their teams brilliantly.
