Last Thursday, fourteen selected Year 7 and Year 9 students gave up a day at home to ensure 72 Year 3 and 4 pupils from our local schools had a fabulous time taking part in their Indoor Athletics competition. The leaders had to learn how to skilfully lead and officiate all eight field events, as well as demonstrate races, support their teams and motivate them to do their best! All in one day! Lauren Baugh volunteered to run the score table and did a fabulous job. Elliot Field and Josh Ingram made sure the afternoon ran smoothly with a stopwatch and hooter. Emily Tunney was the expert with the ‘Speed Bounce’ and Daniel Gregory made sure the javelin was measured accurately. Molly Daly, Alanis Fell, Eliza Simmonds, Tom West, Lydia Hatchett, Jason Burkwood, Jack Donner, Mia Campbell and Reece Gustar all led and supported their teams brilliantly.
Mrs Salmon said: ‘Our Harrow Way students have yet again been a huge credit to themselves and their school. They have made me feel very proud! A HUGE thank you to you all!’
Harrow Way would like to thank all the children from Portway Junior, Endeavour, Appleshaw St Peter’s, Roman Way and Knights Enham for taking part so enthusiastically, and to the parents and teachers for all their help and support. An additional ‘Well done’ to Portway Blue for winning the A Team competition, Portway B for winning the B Team competition and Endeavour, with their leader Mia Campbell, for winning the Friendship prize.
