On Friday the 5th of July, we took a group of 9 students who had regularly attended our after school rock climbing club on a trip to visit a bigger climbing facility, at Calshot Activities Centre.
The group, representing year groups across the school, got the opportunity to put the climbing skills they have developed on the wall at Harrow Way into practice and attempt some harder, taller and more varied climbing routes at a different venue, as well as try some traversing and bouldering.
The group demonstrated excellent behaviour as well as consistently strong safety skills; showing how far many of their climbing techniques and abilities at managing their own climbing setups under supervision have come. View a gallery of photos from the trip here.
If any other students would like to join climbing club in the new academic year, it currently runs on Fridays after school (day of the week for next school year to be confirmed) and is open to all year groups. Students should contact Giles Davis in the IT office to sign up.
