Excited Year 3 and 4 teams from Appleshaw and Portway Junior joined Lions in the Community coaches and Harrow Way leaders for the annual Year 3/4 Lions in the Community Football Festival.
Year 7 students, chosen because of their commitment to Lions in the Community or because of their leadership qualities, managed the teams brilliantly, motivating the players, coaching them and looking after them the whole time:
Portway Yellow – Harry Goddard and Tommy Willard
Portway Blue – Ellie Millings and Mia Larkin
Portway Orange – George Dickens and Ross Belbin
Portway Red – Matthew Cooper and Taylar Larkin
Appleshaw St Peter’s – Owen Mussell
Year 8 students, Ollie Cox, Connor Mumford and Harvey Richards, were outstanding in their pitch marshalling, Not an easy job with six iGoals to contend with! They are members of the very successful U13 LITC district team.
All the young players are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship, always showing kindness and respect, as well as their high level of play. It was a very close competition with Appleshaw coming in 2nd place to Portway Yellow. Portway Red were the winners of the Respect prize.
A huge thanks to Cathy Devereux for her continued support of the Harrow Way Cluster and to Portway and Appleshaw Schools.
