The Year 8/9 Rugby team won their 2nd match of the season in emphatic style on Wednesday night. This time, the home team welcomed Cantell School from Southampton – the first time Harrow Way have played this school. Right from the off it was clear that the team were going to use their recent win over local rivals John Hanson School as a confidence booster and within 3 minutes of the whistle, Harrow Way had scored their first try.
From then on, it was one way traffic and the forwards asserted their dominance in almost every area of the park. Slick handling allowed the backs to really pile on the pressure and build an even bigger score against the visitors. Cantell gained very little possession all match and when they did, basic errors from them and strong defense from the home team resulted in regular turnover ball. The final score of 48-0 was a conservative result and given the slightly depleted team than the one that played last week, the squad demonstrated the strength and depth of talent that has emerged over the past 12 months.
Mr Peters’ Man of the Match was Stanley North for supreme strength and pace in the back line.
The team’s next match is Thursday 4th October, away to Henry Beaufort in Winchester.
