Hampshire Book Award and Red House Award winner Alex Scarrow delighted Year 7s on Thursday 5th July during his fantastic visit to Harrow Way. During the day he gave an assembly-style presentation to students which began with a high energy author’s talk. In this ‘behind the scenes’ talk Alex introduced how he started writing, where his inspiration comes from and the various themes in his work. He also discussed his background in computer designing. Alex then showed the students an exciting ‘film-style trailer’ to introduce his Time Riders series of books. During the session he also discussed the concept of time travel and how an alternative history might have been created if time travel was possible. The session ended with a ‘game-show-style’ History Quiz. Several students were invited on stage and the audience split into teams for this very funny, fast and closely fought event. Later in the day he held literary workshops and met the Library Staff and Reading Club students for an informal talk in the Library.
