A sunny Harrow Way Community School played host to both the Andover Rural and Andover Town Schools’ Year 5/6 Football Tournaments recently.
Wednesday 21st March: 80 young players made up ten teams at the annual Andover Rural Schools’ Football Tournament. Organised in association with Lions in the Community, Shipton Bellinger, Barton Stacey, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Amport, Kimpton, Abbotts Ann, Appleshaw, Hatherden and Clatford Schools came together to enjoy many games of football and play to the Olympic value of Respect. Andover College Year 1 students were also on hand to support the teams, as well as officiate.
All the young players performed brilliantly and are to be congratulated on their Respect and Fair Play. At the end of a very enjoyable afternoon, Barton Stacey were the eventual winners of the cup, with runners-up Hatherden. Plate winners were Abbotts Ann, with a close win over Appleshaw. Kimpton won the Bowl Competition.
Thursday 22nd March: Year 13 students from Sparsholt College arrived early and keen to run the Andover Town Schools’ Football Tournament. Twelve teams from local town schools took part: Portway Junior (4 teams), Anton Junior (3 teams), Balksbury Junior (2 teams), St John the Baptist, Whitchurch and Knights Enham Junior.
