On Wednesday 11th January, students from local schools Anton and Portway came down to Harrow way to take part in a rock-it-ball festival run by the London 2012 Leadership Academy. Students in the Academy are from years 7, 8 and 9. After both schools had arrived, Mrs Escritt ran some fun warm ups and relays before Miss Sturges explained the rules.
There were ten matches in which the four Portway teams and the Anton team were pitted against each other. Even though they were from the same school, there was a lot of rivalry between the Portway teams! Halfway through, an Anton competitor sustained an injury but showed courage to continue in the final match
Out of the five teams it was Portway Orange who came out on top with Portway Pink second, Portway Blue and Green as joint third. Anton didn’t win but they did collect the prize for showing Courage and Respect the most, two of the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
Thanks to the teachers and pupils from Portway and Anton, Miss Sturges, Miss Escritt and the London 2012 Leadership Academy:
