Over forty matches were played in the 2011 Year 5 and 6 Town Basketball Tournament held at Harrow Way, and every one of them was officiated to a very high standard by Harrow Way Year 11 GCSE students. Lili McLean, Ella Howells, Eleanor Roche and Laura Jones shared the officiating duties in the Girls’ Competition with Matt Jenkins, Tom Longshaw, Clara Franklin and Sheree Villiers the Boys’ Competition. They are to be congratulated on making a difficult job look easy, and for being excellent Ambassadors for Harrow Way School.
Girls and boys from Portway Junior, Anton Junior, St John the Baptist and Rookwood Schools played every match with determination, respect, friendship and excellence, four of the Olympic and Paralympic Values. Well done to all teams and players; there were many very close games in both competitions and final positions were only decided in the last games. Well done to Portway Junior School who were the overall winners in both competitions. For the boys’, Portway were also runners-up with Rookwood in 3rd place. For the girls’, St Johns were 2nd and Anton 3rd.
A particular thank you to Emma Jones, Year 9 Silver Ambassador, who supported and coached the Anton girls’ teams.
