Four Year 8 students from Harrow Way’s Leadership Academy attended the recent Year 8 ‘Lighting the Torch to 2012’ day, organised by the Mountbatten School Sports Partnership. Lauren Erskine, Holly Guiver, Chelsey Renshaw and Allen Garrett had a packed day finding out about the Olympic and Paralympic Values, as well as taking part in lots of inclusive activities. Favourites were Wheelchair basketball and the Polybats. New Age Kurling, Boccia, Table Cricket and Crazy Catches were also enjoyed and the Get Set website was explored. At each activity, they learned how they could lead it back at Harrow Way.
Allen, Chelsey, Lauren and Holly then sat together and planned their ‘Big Ideas’ as part of the build up to London 2012. They are very keen to help run a New Age Kurling competition for the primary schools and are looking forward to getting wheelchair basketball into school!
Well done to all four of them!
