The last day of the Spring Term saw eight Year 9 students, chosen for their effort and commitment towards leadership, attend the Hampshire Top Link Conference 2010. Link to photos.
They had a great day! Highlights included meeting Alex Danson, a current Olympian who plays hockey for England and who was inspirational in all that she said. A chance to learn how to lead and run competitions through New Age Kurling, Crazy Catch, Skipping (Jump Rope UK had amazed Portway Junior School the day before and continued to impress the Year 9 students at the Conference!) and Speed Stacking helped to also inspire the students.
Following a very tasty lunch and the team challenges (Ella and Ellie with a Logic Problem, Lili and Matthew speed bouncing, Tom and Owen speed stacking and Lydia and Hallam at the Crazy Catch), the group rejoined Miss Sturges. They discussed and planned how the activities and ideas from today could be incorporated back in school. The team already has some great competition ideas for National School Sports Week which we are hoping to put into place!
Lili McLean, Owen Trapnell, Hallam Doney, Ellie Roche, Lydia Moulding, Tom Longshaw, Ella Howells and Matthew Pugh should be exceptionally proud of their team work and their efforts – they were all great company and a credit to themselves and Harrow Way School. Well done and thank you!
