In Harrow Way’s bid to become a Rights Respecting School, a competition was launched by art teacher, Mrs Gibbs, and Head of RE and Citizenship, Mrs Delany last November. The challenge was thrown open to all year groups who had to come up with ideas that would help to reinforce to children and young people that they have rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. All this discussion would culminate in a permanent piece of artwork displayed as a mural in the school. From this starting point the best ideas were given to the ‘Gifted and Talented’ art students to use along with their own interpretations to develop a final proposal for the mural.
