Having won the North Partnership round, Harrow Way set off for the final of the Futsal 96 Mountbatten Partnership competition. First up, they faced a formidable Mountbatten School team. Winning with a clean sheet they then faced Test Valley in the finals who had come through as winners of the South Partnership competition. A hard fought semi final between themsleves and John Hanson had ended in penalties. Test Valley were therefore our opposition in the final.
As goalkeeper, Rhys Sturgess kept another clean sheet in the final, making some very brave saves. He was backed up by Halem Doney and Luke Bourner in defence. Also part of the squad was Owen Trapnell, Joe McQueen, Daniel Andrews and Andre Coelho. Scoring four goals between them, they deserved their victory. Great sportsmanship and determination was shown by all the team. Mr Hudson said, ‘They were a credit to themselves and their school and thoroughly deserved their victory.’
Well done boys, congratulations on receiving your winners’ medals!
