Brandon Thomson, Michael Pearce and Dan Andrews from Year 8, and Callum Twigg and Lucy Mellows from Year 7 were excellent members of the Mountbatten Sports Partnership team this week. They had qualified earlier in the year to earn their places in the Partnership cross country team and the right to wear the Partnership vest.
Almost two hundred competitors ran in each race from all over Hampshire, making the starts a huge spectacle with everyone battling hard for their early positions. Much discussion was had on how best to run this part of the race!
First up was Lucy for the Year 7 girls’ team. She set off confidently with a determination to better her performance at Charlton. This she did in style, crossing the finishing line in 33rd place. A great result when running against the whole of Hampshire! This was also second for the Partnership. Well done Lucy!
Callum ran well in the Year 7 boys’ race but has a top tip for next year: ‘Watch out for those people running in spikes!’.
A highly competitive race saw our Year 8 boys, Dan, Brandon and Michael, battling hard. The longest race of the day did not deter the boys and they ran well to earn very respectable final positions. Dan maintained his high level of performance from the earlier round by finishing in a very good 37th place, third for the Partnership.
As usual, the five runners represented Harrow Way extremely well, before, during and after the race. They were a credit to themselves and Harrow Way. Well done, we are very proud of you all!
