Last year, Year 9 students completed an ‘Inside Out’ project with Mrs Collins. They used inspiration from Peter Randall-Paige to make organic structures in clay. They worked intuitively, letting the materials and the shape of their hands dictate the form. When the clay was ‘leather hard’ the students carved into their work before applying boot polish to the surface.
Next the students made another clay structure, this time using their own work to influence their development. After cutting it in half they applied texture to the surface and added the imaginary pips and seeds inside. The clay was fired, glazed and re-fired. Final pieces can be seen in the cabinet outside Mrs Collins’ art room E6
