Breakfast at 7.30 am!! Straight into the usual Paris traffic jam and eventually getting to Notre Dame. Too early for Quasimodo, but the students were very quiet and orderly, looking round the cathedral. Then off for a Mr Warren forced march through the Marche aux Fleurs, past La Conciergerie, and La Tour St Jacques, over Pont Neuf to the Pyramid at the entrance to Le Louvre. Following a quick photo stop at Le Carrousel we had lunch in the Tuileries. Well done to Vicky, Aisha, Megan, Hayleigh, Jonathan, Thorin and Aaren for ordering their lunch in a cafe. We picked up the Metro in Place de la Concorde for the short trip under the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. 284 steps later we looked out over the interesting traffic situation – made much more interesting by a wedding group having their photo taken in the middle of the Champs Elysees! The group then added to their navigational skills by planning and executing the Metro route up to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. Further testing of their brains occurred when they had to follow a town trail to discover some interesting facts and places around Montmartre. Well done to Sophie Boyne and Claire who very nearly aced the paper – Mr Warren was worried! Several portraits and hats were purchased – with much haggling over the price – well done to all. Another long rush-hour journey home but we were compensated with a lovely dinner and some fun activities for the group.
