Richard Barnfather from Andover College’s Art Deptartment visited Harrow Way on Friday (28th March). He brought some exciting current artwork and a couple of great students to help give our students a flavour of the work that is produced and potential progression routes there.
Our Year 10 art students, with some year 9 students, were very involved with closely viewing the sketch books, working samples, 3D work and paintings. They were able to discuss the ideas and strategies with the art students from Andover College, which culminated in many animated conversations and numerous questions about the work, courses and equipment facilities at the college.
Holly Simmonds and Beth Day who accompanied Richard with large porfolios of their work are both ex-students from Harrow Way, but from differing year groups. Holly has completed her A-levels and Foundation Year, and is now focused on her successful acceptance at Winchester College of Art for her Degree in Fashion/Textiles which she will commence in September. Beth has completed the first year of her course and is a very positive art student who is enjoying such total focus on the one subject.
Andover College’s Art Department has invited our Year 10 GCSE and Year 9 High Achievers to a Practical Workshop day on Saturday 26th April , during which they will be able to use varied techniques to produce work studies to add to their GCSE coursework portfolios.
