On Thursday 8 November 2007, a group of talented artists in year 9 were invited to Hillier Gardens in Romsey as part of a ‘Going Green’ project.
The students looked at and discussed artwork in the gardens and made thumbnail sketches in their sketchbooks. The gardens were full of beautiful and unusual trees, plants and shrubs and they were able to select something to draw in chalk pastel. After lunch the students made individual and group sculptures from collected leaves, bark and pods. They will use their visual information and inspiration from the trip to create designs for a stone carving which they will make in their weekly after school sessions.
