The Year 7 Aim Higher group have returned to school after spending 3 days in the Brecon Beacons.
After a days driving students ventured down “Big Pit”, 90ft down into a real coal mine. Students experienced what working life was like for children and adults in the mining industry. This was followed by an evening of bowling. The second day saw the group work as a team to climb Pen-y-fan – the highest mountain in South Wales. The students worked hard to climb in hot and windy conditions.
The following day went from climbing high to getting low – with a morning of caving! Conquering their fears and crawling down and through small, wet and cold caves.
